Mine site is within the administrative borders of Akdağmadeni County of Yozgat Province. The distance to the county Centrum is 12 KMs. Nearest residential area is Karapir village located in the south of site at a distance of 10 KMs.

1. GENERAL EVALUATION OF MINE SITE:

Akdağ skarned metamorphic series of eastern part of middle Anatolia-Kırşehir massive contains zinc/lead deposits. Previously during the Ottoman period, it was working and the county is named after the mine site.
Upper levels are filled with silicied, carbon, schist complexes and inner floors are completely filled with secondary calcid deposits. Lower units are the formation of mica, gneiss, amphybol gneiss, and amphybolite minerals.

In Çiçekli Sırtı area which is one of the working deposits in Akdağmadeni, a great part of the field is covered with white marble. Granite, Aplit (60% Si), and quartz dikes cutting this unit is viewable in every part of the field. Gneisses in the floor is mostly visible in between south and northwest Çiçekli Sırtı and Keçi Bağırtan areas.

Units are as follows in age order;
1) Quartz dikes
2) Aplit dikes
3) Granites
4) Marbles
5) Metamorphics

2. ORE FORMATION
Within the skarn type rocks covering vast areas in the field, there are formations of hydrothermal ore. The ore is usually formed through the carbon rocks which cover the upper levels of granite batholithin and regionally metamorphosis and faults in gneiss contacts and within the carbonates.

3. GRADE CHANGES IN MINE DEPOSIT
The ore formations developing in east-west direction in the mine deposit give greatest reserves and high grade formations in aplit and gneiss contacts and through contact zones nearly NE/SW, NW/SE directions fault contacts.

4. PRODUCTION AND RESERVE AMOUNT:
From the old galleries dating back to year 1967 by Rasih ve İhsan Mad. Ltd. Şti., with production and exploration, until year 2007, there has been almost 1.400.000tons of zinc/lead production.

However because of owner change at year 1995, lower prices in zinc/lead mines, exploration is limited to production areas. There is a vast field and there are unchecked areas.
